New Yorkers reminded of outdoor burning dangers

ALBANY - New Yorkers are being warned about the dangers of wildfires.

Forest rangers joined authorities at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Monday to talk about the risks of outdoor burning.

Even with rain, the risk of brush fires is still high in parts of the state. Warmer temperatures and gusting winds serve to increase that risk.

There is a statewide ban on open burning in effect until May 14.
