NXIVM founder arraigned in New York City on sex trafficking charges

The founder of NXIVM, Keith Raniere, went before a federal judge Friday afternoon to be arraigned in Brooklyn on charges of sex trafficking.

Raniere is accused of using the Saratoga County-based NXIVM to groom women for sex. Many of those women were branded.

A judge ordered continued detainment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 27 at 11:00 a.m.

NewsChannel 13 obtained court documents showing items seized during FBI raids on two Halfmoon homes where Raniere spent time. Included are cell phones, thumb drives, computers and half a million dollars in cash.

Albany Attorney Paul DerOhannesian is representing Raniere.
