Parents in the Canajoharie School District got a letter from the superintendent on Thursday. It addressed concerns over a visitor to East Hill Elementary School Wednesday.
The man attended morning breakfast with his niece and wrote, "I Love You" on napkins and handed them to several children.
Police later advised school officials the man was a Level 2 sex offender.
The school says the man was never alone with children at any time and he is now banned from school property.
