Police in Berkshire County warn of phone scam

Police in Berkshire County are warning of a new phone scam targeting residents.

They say a resident in North Adams received a call claiming to be from Citizens Bank. They claimed the woman's Sears credit card statement was overdue and they wanted to help her set up a payment.

The resident does have accounts with both companies, but quickly realized it was a scam.

Police urge everyone to verify who you are speaking to before providing any personal information.
