ALBANY - Governor Andrew Cuomo attended a rally in Albany Tuesday organized by Planned Parenthood.

The governor, lieutenant governor and the president of the Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, all spoke. Each emphasized New York's progressive history of protecting and advancing women's reproductive rights.

Governor Cuomo also called on state lawmakers to codify the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade.

"Because they will take us back before 1973. They will take us back and we have to protect our position and it has to be written into our Constitution," asserted Cuomo.

Richards announced in January she was stepping down as leader of Planned Parenthood. She was presented Tuesday with the governor's medal for public service.
