Prospect Mountain Veteran's Memorial Parkway closed for the season

The cold weather is putting a damper on some tourism plans this weekend in Warren County.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said because of icy conditions and cold temperatures, the state has closed the Prospect Mountain Veteran’s Memorial Parkway for the season.

“We had planned this to be the final weekend but are taking this precaution to ensure the safety of people, especially veterans, that may have used the parkway," said DEC Regional Director Bob Stegemann.

The DEC said the weekend of Nov. 4, more than 1,800 people, including 170 veterans, traveled the parkway and enjoyed its scenic Adirondack views.
