Rabid raccoons discovered in Rensselaer County

TROY -- Two raccoons with rabies have been discovered in Rensselaer County.

The county Department of Health reports the two raccoons tested positive after their capture in Troy near Brunswick Avenue and Congress Street and in Wynantskill on Geneva Boulevard.

Residents are being reminded to cover their garbage cans as raccoons feed out of garbage cans, dumpsters and on food left out for other animals.
