Men arraigned in Pittsfield human trafficking investigation

Two men have been arraigned in connection with an ongoing human trafficking investigation in Pittsfield. Randy Lambach and Joseph VanWert both pleaded not guilty.

The investigation started early last year, when police noted an increase in complaints about prostitutes. Police say Lambach recruited the women, took their pictures, advertised them on social media and arranged meet-ups. Police also say he took a portion of the earnings and compensated the women with illegal drugs instead of cash.

VanWert allegedly used his home at a senior living facility to conduct the prostitution business.

Both men remain behind bars.
