Rensselaer police rescue dog in danger

Rensselaer police make a daring rescue Thursday morning, for a little dog in danger.

Police tell NewsChannel 13 an elderly man was walking his dog along River Chase Drive when the dog fell through the snow and down a ravine.

The fire department wasn't able to get to him.

Despite the risks, Police Officers Greg Leone and Tyler Sammon, grabbed rope, climbed down the ravine and rescued the dog.

The police chief says both officers have been commended for their actions.
