Rivers Casino says event will be Capital Region's 'largest poker event ever'

SCHENECTADY - Rivers Casino is upping the ante, hosting what it says is the Capital Region's largest poker event ever held.

The casino announced details Thursday morning in Schenectady.

The "Capital Region Classic" will be a $100,000 guaranteed, no limit, Texas Hold’Em poker tournament. It will be held May 24 through May 28. Registration opens May 17.

The event is sure to boost the casino's overall revenue, which topped $2.2 million the week ending April 30.

Poker revenue from its 15 tables topped $124,000.
