Former Fulton County tannery owner charged with illegally storing hazardous waste

The former owner of a tannery in Fulton County was arrested Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Robert Carville, 56, is charged with illegally storing hazardous waste in an abandoned building in Johnstown for more than two years.

The federal indictment says Carville failed to notify government officials that he was storing hundreds of gallons of chemicals without a permit.

The tannery known as Carville National Leather closed in 2013.
