Owner of Vermont, Massachusetts newspapers dies

The owner of the "Berkshire Eagle" and "Bennington Banner" newspapers has died unexpectedly.

Robert Wilmers was a longtime resident of Stockbridge, Mass.

He was CEO of M&T Bank Corp.

He was also a leader of institutions in the Berkshires, including Jacob's Pillow and The Mount.

Robert Wilmers died at his home in New York City. He was 83 years old.
