A Saratoga County Supreme Court justice has issued a ruling on a controversial trail proposal.

The justice has issued a stay, stopping Saratoga Springs from taking property from three owners to begin construction on the Geyser Road Trail.

The project is part of the city's plan to connect walking, hiking and biking trails.

Others argue the plan is unsafe and dangerous because it would be along a busy roadway.

The Saratoga Springs City Council voted to use eminent domain powers to seize property for the trail, which would cut a portion out of a Ballston Spa couple's lawn.

That couple and Ballston Spa have filed a lawsuit to keep it from happening.
