SCHENECTADY -- A class taught women how important it is to know how to defend themselves. The class, held at the Schenectady JCC on Sunday morning, was for women only.

It taught students what attackers look for, how to avoid being the victim, and essential skills to protect themselves. Instructors say these skills are critical.
