April 20, 2017 01:33 PM

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has weighed in on the sexual misconduct scandal at her alma mater, the Emma Willard School.

As NewsChannel 13 first told you Tuesday in our 11 p.m. broadcast, an independent review commissioned by the school found accounts of over 75 instances of abuse or violations from the 1950s through last year. Some of those accounts have been passed on to Troy police for investigation.

Here’s the full statement from Senator Gillibrand:

"Personally, I'm deeply disturbed and outraged by this report. My prayers go out to all the survivors who have suffered from past failures of the school's faculty and administrators to protect students from such shocking, harmful and criminal conduct."
