Sewage from three Watervliet homes draining directly to Hudson River

Sewage from three Watervliet homes is flowing directly into the Hudson River, instead of going to the sewage treatment plant.
That's according to an alert NewsChannel 13 received Thursday from the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
The alert says more than 404,000 gallons of untreated discharge has made its way into the Hudson over the last three months, because the homes are not properly hooked up to the city's sewage system. The alert also indicates that the homeowners are going to have to pay to fix the problem.
This is not the first time this has happened in Watervliet. Nearly one year ago, Karen Tararache reported on four homes with a similar problem. At the time, the mayor told us those repairs could cost between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on how far their property is located from the sewer.
NewsChannel 13 called City Hall to ask questions about Thursday's alert, but so far have not heard back.
