Albany cop charged in connection with hit-and-run

Albany police have charged one of their own in a hit-and-run. Shawn Dixon is accused of hitting a car in the area of West Lawrence Street and Myrtle Avenue.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on May 4. Dixon was off duty at the time.

One person was treated for minor injuries the next day.

Dixon has been with the department since July 2015. He remains suspended without pay for 30 days. He is due in court Friday.
