Man expected to survive after being shot in arm

SCHENECTADY – Police say one person was shot in the arm in Schenectady.

It happened near the back doorway of 856 Union Street around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, about two blocks from Union College.

The victim, 52-year-old John Jones, was taken to Albany Medical Center. He is expected to survive.

Union Street was shut down between Gillespie Street and University Place, but has since reopened.

It's still unclear if the shooting was random or the victim was targeted.

The suspect remains on the loose.
