Stoddard, former Schoharie County sheriff, dies

MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- A former sheriff in Schoharie County has died.

Harvey Stoddard was the sheriff for 20 years. He was a New York State Trooper before that. Schoharie County’s public safety building was named after him.

Current Schoharie County Sheriff Tony Desmond says Stoddard had been in poor health. He was in his 80s when he passed away Tuesday night in a Montgomery County nursing home.
