There has been a shakeup at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Thirty-eight employees were laid off on Friday.
Affected employees include administrative and support staff but no research faculty.
SUNY Poly’s president says the reductions are intended to improve efficiency and operations at the institute, which oversees some of Governor Cuomo's efforts to attract high-tech jobs to New York.
The layoffs and other changes will save $10 million a year.
Former President Alain Kaloyeros resigned last year after being charged with awarding lucrative contracts to hand-picked companies. Kaloyeros says he's innocent.
