Albany police probe shooting

ALBANY -- Albany police are investigating a late Wednesday night shooting.

Police responded to the area of Dove St. and Hudson Ave. around 11:25 p.m. Wednesday following a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a 33-year-old man who had been shot in the elbow and foot.

Police say the victim told them he was walking on Hudson Ave. when four black men approached him, punched him in the head and face and stole his wallet. During an ensuing struggle with the suspects, shots were fired and the victim was struck.

Police say the incident remains under investigation but doesn't appear to be a random act.

The victim was taken to Albany Med for evaluation.
