Gallup poll has Vermont, South Dakota tied for 'happiest' state

Vermont and South Dakota are the happiest and healthiest states in the United States. That's according to the latest Gallup poll that ranks states on a "well-being" index.

Residents in both states tend to have good health, feel safe in their communities and manage their finances well.

Hawaii, Minnesota and North Dakota rounded out the top five.
