Washington County farm worker pleads guilty to sexual assault

FORT EDWARD - A Washington County farm worker in the United States illegally is headed to prison for sexual assault.

NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Post-Star report 33-year-old Ricardo Barajas-Suarez pled guilty Friday in Washington County Court.

Barajas-Suarez was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl last summer in Salem. Prosecutors say the attack happened near a farm where he worked. The girl was able to escape and call police.

Barajas-Suarez will spend the next three years in prison as part of the plea. He faces deportation to his native Mexico after his release.
