Westerlo woman charged with animal cruelty

WESTERLO -- A Westerlo woman is charged with animal cruelty.

The Albany County Sheriff's Department got a tip about horses living in poor conditions at the home of Tanja Morse on County Route 401.

When they searched the property they found 16 horses, 56 dogs, 27 chickens, 27 goats and a llama all living in deplorable conditions. Sixteen of the dogs have been taken in by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Sheriff's investigators have seized some of the other animals.
