Woman sentenced for posing as lawyer and defrauding hundreds

Antonia Barrone was sentenced Thursday in Albany County Court for operating a fake law firm and pretending to be a licensed attorney.

The state Attorney General said Barrone defrauded more than 400 New Yorkers out of more than $23,000 over nearly five years.

Judge Peter Lynch sentenced her to one and a half to three years in state prison.

Barrone was also sentenced late Thursday afternoon in Saratoga County Court for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and criminal impersonation. That stems from an arrest in the Town of Wilton in October 2015.

She will serve one to three years in prison on those charges.
