NISKAYUNA - A zombie property in Niskayuna is coming down.

The building is at the corner of Union Street and Balltown Road. It's been an eyesore for years.

No repairs could be made and the property couldn't be sold because it was tied up in a lengthy foreclosure.

A contract to buy the building has now been signed.

Once the home is torn down, a new single family home will be built on the site by a private developer.

"Everybody's been concerned about it. It's the gateway to our town in either direction – and we had to do something and I'm so happy we are now," noted Denise Murphy McGraw, the Niskayuna deputy town supervisor.

The $30,000 to tear down the building is being put up by the Capital Region Land Bank.
