Legislation would regulate drying lamps at NY nail salons

The New York State Senate wants to regulate the machines that dry your nails after a pedicure or a manicure at the salon.

The Senate passed a bill on Monday that requires the Health Department to review the safety of ultraviolet nail dryers and authorizes the Department of State to regulate them.

A recent "archives of dermatology" article implicated UV lamps were a contributing factor in cases of skin cancer on the hands.
