Former congressman reacts to NYC attack

November 01, 2017 01:19 PM

Former Republican Congressman Chris Gibson is reacting to Tuesday's attack in New York City.

“We're fighting a very vicious enemy. This enemy is very committed to taking down civilization, as we know it. When I served in the Congress, I did everything I could to keep us safe – both in terms of keeping our military strong and also making sure we take common-sense steps to make sure that we take a close look at folks that are coming to the country. So I think that there is still more we can do, consistent with our values, which I think is really important. We need to make sure that we're doing this from a security standpoint, not bringing forward religious tests. I don't think that that is appropriate for a country such as ours,” explained Gibson.
