There is no word yet from President-elect Donald Trump on the fate of U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian. He has been the U.S. attorney for the northern district of New York for the last six years.

Will he stay on, in the Trump administration? He told NewsChannel 13 Monday that he's still waiting to hear.

"The new administration has not made clear what its intentions are with respect to the us attorney. We're going to await word. U.S. attorneys, as you know, serve as presidential appointees. We serve at the pleasure of the president so when I receive word from the new administration, I’ll act accordingly and until then I intend to serve as us attorney," explained Hartunian.

U.S. attorney for the southern district of New York, Preet Bharara, met with President-elect Trump nearly a month ago and agreed to stay on.
