Olympian Weibrecht inducted into Lake Placid Hall of Fame

LAKE PLACID – Two-time Olympic alpine skier Andrew Weibrecht received a big honor on Sunday.

He was inducted into the Lake Placid Hall of Fame. Weibrecht won a bronze medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and a silver in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The Lake Placid native says Sunday’s honor holds special significance.

“I think of what I do as what I do,” he said. “To have the town come forward and really recognize that in a formal way is really special to me and a great honor.”

NewsChannel 13 sat down with Weibrecht at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, which his family owns. We talked about his hopes for the 2018 Olympics Games and will be sharing more of his story leading up to and during the games.
