HVCC announces new solar job training initiative

TROY - A new solar job training initiative is announced at Hudson Valley Community College.

The goal is to help provide reduced course fees for students interested in solar job training, with the hope of bringing more women and veterans into the industry.

"This program will train people for jobs that not only are into the future, but are the present moment. Right now, we've had banner years in solar and to be able to continue to install this sort of energy transformation opportunity, you need quality people. You need qualified, well-trained people who can work for these sound-paying jobs," explained Congressman Paul Tonko.

This initiative is made possible by a $25,000 investment from Cypress Creek Renewables. The national company focuses on creating locally based solar farms.
