Thruway Authority answers questions about repeated paving

May 26, 2017 05:52 PM

Why is the Thruway is being repaved again between Exits 24 and 25? A NewsChannel 13 viewer wrote into our Waste Watchers team recently asking that. The viewer claims the same stretch has been repaved three years in a row.

We asked the Thruway Authority about this. They say the work you see now is part of a two year, $17.7 million pavement restoration project. Phase 1 wrapped up last fall. Phase 2 wraps up this summer.

Work done in 2015 was a separate project involving full-depth repairs to portions of the Thruway.
