Police: Albany man tried to cash fake check

An Albany man is accused of trying to cash a counterfeit check.

Michael Colantonio tried to cash a $2,300 check at the Broadview Federal Credit Union in North Greenbush, police said.

Colantonio was charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and attempted grand larceny and misdemeanor unlawful use of personal identifying information.

He was arraigned in North Greenbush Town Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail without bail because police said he has numerous prior felony convictions.
