The Bennington Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its K-9s.

K-9 Gracie died after what police describe as a sudden medical event.

Gracie was brought to the Capital District Veterinary Hospital in Latham, but died before she arrived.

K-9 Gracie was with the department for eight years.

She had more than 500 deployments where she helped find more than 70 people and helped recover more than $1 million in drugs and money.

She also attended many school events.

The Bennington Police Department is holding a memorial service to honor Gracie in the near future.
