Whitehall students to return to classroom Thursday amid water emergency

Whitehall residents shouldn’t use water

Whitehall residents shouldn't use water unless it is an absolute emergency.

Whitehall students will return to classes on Thursday for the first time this week as the village continues to deal with a water emergency.

The village remains under a boil water advisory. The district said in a statement that they have an ample supply of fresh drinking water for staff and students and potable water that will be available for the cafeteria to prepare meals.

Residents of the village of Whitehall are advised to continue to conserve water.

A state of emergency for the village remains in effect. Some residents may begin to see minimal water, according to a statement from Mayor Francis Putorti.

Residents should only use their water for emergency purposes. They should not run washers, dishwashers, showers or similar water uses until the repairs can be made.

The water is not safe to drink.
The warning center and bathroom facilities at the Recreation Center at 28 Williams St. will be open until 8 p.m. Bottled water and non potable water is available at the firehouse. People can fill containers until 8 p.m.

Anybody who is homebound and needs water delivered is asked to call the Whitehall Village Office from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at 518-499-0871.
