ALBANY - There's movement on bail reform at the state Capitol. The Democratic leader of the Senate says she's open to change, but it could be a different story in the Assembly.
Lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle say their district offices have been inundated with emails and phone calls from constituents on both sides of the contentious issue.
There are now signs that lawmakers are getting the message.
The latest bail reform proposal comes after several weeks of private meetings with law enforcement officials.
The plan being pushed by Senate Democrats calls for the complete elimination of cash bail while allowing judges more discretion.
