249 new positive COVID-19 cases in Albany County

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy announced Saturday 249 new positive coronavirus cases in the county overnight. The total of cases now 16,982.

Among the new cases, 35 had close contact with positive cases, one had traveled out of state, 201 did not have a clear source of infection, one person had travelled and 12 are healthcare workers or residents of congregate settings.

McCoy also confirmed two new COVID-related deaths in the county since Friday. A man in his 60’s and a man in his 70’s. The death toll for the county now stands at 293 since the outbreak began.

“COVID-19 continues to claim the lives of our loved ones in Albany County. My condolences go out the latest families who are experiencing this loss. Until we can get more people vaccinated and develop a herd immunity, we need to do everything we can to protect ourselves and others. That means wearing a mask, social distancing, washing your hands frequently, staying home as much as possible and not gathering in groups.” said County Executive McCoy.

Below is the schedule for Albany County’s COVID-19 mobile testing sites next week, a collaboration with the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center. Testing is for those experiencing symptoms, essential workers and those returning to work by appointment only, after being screened over the phone. To be screened, please call (518) 465-4771.
