Albany man accused of almost hitting detective during traffic stop

An Albany man is accused of nearly striking a detective while trying to get away from a traffic stop.

Police say they tried to stop 22-year-old Jakil Paul on Hummel Terrace last Thursday. They say Paul took off, hit a police car and nearly hit a detective.


Officers caught up with Paul after he collided with another vehicle on Second Avenue, near Claire Street.

Paul is being treated at Albany Medical Center. He faces several charges including reckless endangerment and speeding.
