ALBANY -- Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred Friday evening on a ramp to Interstate 90.

Officers responded to the northbound ramp from Livingston Ave to Interstate 90 around 7 p.m. for reports of a crash.

Upon arrival, police said officers discovered two vehicles had been involved in a head on crash. Both drivers sustained injuries.

Police said preliminary investigation shows a driver was traveling the wrong way on the ramp for Interstate 90 westbound, and collided with a vehicle.

The driver traveling the wrong way was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The other driver was also taken to the hospital; he sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police are not releasing the name of the deceased at this time.

The roadway towards Interstate 90 will be closed until further notice; vehicles can still access Route 9 northbound from Livingston Ave.
