Police standoff in Albany keeps officers busy for hours, man in custody

Albany police say a man responsible for firing a handgun Thursday night that lead to a standoff on First Street has been arrested.

It happened at 246 First Street.


The standoff ended around 1:30 Friday morning.

Alkareem Leigh, 26, has been charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon, assault, and reckless endangerment.         

Tatiana Laquire, 21, of Albany is also charged with assault.

Police say the victim was not hit by the gunfire.
