ALBANY - There was some tension in the air Wednesday morning, when Albany police put barricades near South Station.
The barricades block off the sidewalk as well as the entrance to the police station.
Albany police say the move is part of normal safety protocols and that the sidewalk in front of the police station needs to remain clear.
The question still remains if protesters have to move from this area.
NewsChannel 13 has calls out to the mayor's office and the president of the Common Council. We hadn't heard back as of Wednesday afternoon.
The president of the Albany Police Officers Union has expressed frustration with how the mayor and chief have handled this situation following last Wednesday's protest.
Hear what he said in a letter to the mayor and police chief by watching the video of Sam Hesler's story.
