Albany police investigating attempted robbery on South Pearl Street

Albany police are investigating an attempted robbery that happened on South Pearl Street Sunday.

Police say it happened around 7:15 p.m. An 18-year-old woman told officers that a man tried to take her handbag while she was walking on South Pearl Street, near Hudson Avenue.

Police say the woman was dragged on the ground during the attempted robbery. The woman was able to break away from the suspect and call police.

Police say the suspect is a man, and they say he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
