ALBANY - A giant "Black Lives Matter" sign was being painted on Lark Street in Albany Tuesday afternoon.

The city of Albany worked with the social services organization In Our Own Voices to make it happen.

It comes after days of rallies held in the Capital Region after the death of George Floyd.

Other cities around the country have done something similar. A section of 16th Street in Washington was ceremoniously renamed Black Lives Matter Plaza after the large yellow words were painted on the road that leads to the White House.

The same message was painted on the plaza outside City Hall in Dallas.

Protesters in Raleigh, North Carolina painted "End Racism Now" on the street in front of the city's Contemporary Art Museum.
