Colonie is trying to crack down on "aggressive panhandling."

There is a new law being proposed in the town. It would apply to any panhandler who comes within six feet of people, follows them in an intimidating manner, or continues to beg for money after being denied.

A first offense carries a fine, and a second offense could mean jail.

Panhandlers are regularly seen along Everett Road and the Wolf Road exit ramp.
