Coronavirus infection rate increases slightly in New York, Capital Region

The coronavirus infection rate is creeping higher in New York. The state reported that 831 more people tested positive Wednesday.

That is a 1.3 percent increase. Nine people died within the past day.


In the Capital Region, Albany County is seeing an increase in confirmed cases.    

The county reported 44 new cases in the last day. The last time they came close to that number was June 1, with 37 positive cases.    

Rensselaer County has ten new cases; four are in the Riverside Nursing Home in Castleton.    

Two of the other cases are people who traveled out of the state.   

Meanwhile, the Mohawk Valley saw a drop in new cases to just one percent of people testing positive.
