Two arrests have been made after a dog was found shot twice and dumped on the side of a Berne Road.

David Packard, 72 and Beth Mickle-Packard, 68, are facing animal cruelty charges.

Authorities say it was their border collie named Duke that was found suffering, shot twice, dying in a ditch.

Authorities say the dog was emaciated and had been abused before being shot.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said the dog was such bad shape, it had to be euthanized.

Packard had nothing to say when NewsChannel 13 asked him about the dog.
