The Lafarge Ravena Cement Plant celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

With more than 160 full-time workers, it’s the largest employer and local property taxpayer in southern Albany County.

The plant has the capacity to produce 2.2 million metric tons of cement a year.

The Ravena plant tells the Upstate of Business it’s deeply committed to serving the community, and supports schools, public safety agencies and food pantries.

The plant also has a Community Advisory Committee, where residents and government leaders get updates on new facility developments, and give feedback about how to meet the plant’s goal of being a responsible neighbor.
