Albany man arrested after Hudson Avenue shooting

An Albany man is accused of attempted murder after a shooting Wednesday morning on Hudson Avenue.

It happened just before 5 a.m. near Ontario Street. Police say a 24-year-old man was shot in the hip.


The victim told police his neighbor, 22-year-old Nicholas Cortez, shot him during a dispute.

Emergency crews took the man to Albany Medical Center for treatment. He is expected to survive.

Cortez was arrested at the scene. He’s charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree menacing. He was arraigned is now being held in the Albany County Jail.
