LATHAM - A car-pedestrian accident on Troy Schenectady Road Sunday night claimed the life of a well known area businessman.

Colonie Police say that 69-year-old Nicholas Huban was walking in the left, westbound travel lane, pushing a leaf blower when he was struck by a 2019 Nissan.

Police also say the driver of the car attempted CPR on Mr. Huban. Then when Colonie EMS arrived, they rushed him to the hospital but sadly, he died on the way.

Huban was the owner of On the Farm, a popular ice cream stand on Troy Schenectady Road. The accident occurred directly in front of his business.

Police say neither the car's driver nor his 17-year old son, who was a passenger, were injured in the crash. They say they don't believe speed or driver impairment were factors in the crash.
