COHOES -- A local company is shifting gears to offer help during the coronavirus crisis.

With an ongoing partnership in South Africa, Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. believes a paper product they've already been using to make trade show displays could combat the need to increase hospital bed capacity.

The business has been making field hospital rooms.

"We're doing everything we can to support this pandemic," said Vice President Tom O'Connor.

Mohawk Paper is working with a previous partner, Xanita Board, utilizing their corrugated cardboard material to help create the pop up field hospital rooms.

"A bed, shelf, desk anything, can be a work station anything these healthcare providers need," said O'Connor.

Cohoes-based Mohawk Paper is a fourth generation paper and packaging product manufacturer.
